Posted June 30, 2019 07:02:03The new sequel to the popular video game franchise “Warcraft” is in theaters and a sequel to another popular video games franchise “The Walking Dead” is also getting a sequel, Variety has learned.
Warcraft movie sequels will be announced at a later date, but the first film in the franchise will be a sequel that will focus on an older character and will be directed by Chris Miller.
Miller will also produce the sequel and will direct from his own script, which he will produce alongside a team that includes former Disney producer Josh Friedman, former Universal Pictures head Greg Silverman and the team behind the “Buffy” and “Lost” franchises.
“I think we have an amazing team that is going to take it to a place we have never seen before,” Miller said during a press conference on Tuesday.
“We’re going to make the best film we possibly can, but also the best story we possibly possibly can,” he added.
Miller has been developing the first “WarCraft” movie for almost five years.
His first attempt, in 2013, was criticized by critics for the film’s heavy-handed treatment of the survivors of a warzone, as well as its lack of a major story.
The new film, which will be released in 2019, is scheduled for release in 2017.
It is based on the video game by Blizzard Entertainment and was developed by “Warrior Within Entertainment” and Warner Bros.
The original “Warfare” was released in 1996, the year “The Hunger Games” was published, and starred Bruce Willis and Jennifer Lawrence.
