Blizzard Entertainment is in the process of removing the official WarCraft 3 mods from its servers.
The company said the removal was “due to technical issues” and is intended to allow modders to “create content that has a more realistic and authentic look.”
“This is an important step in the right direction, but we will continue to monitor this issue closely,” a statement on the official website read.
“We have seen a steady increase in modding activity over the last few months, and we do not believe that it is a problem.”
The company has faced backlash from users in the past for the way it has handled its WarCraft 2 and 3 multiplayer games, which it says has contributed to the increased popularity of the genre.
