It’s been a rough year for players of the popular online multiplayer warcraft game, with Blizzard announcing a long-term nerf to its latest expansion, and the game’s chief executive saying it will no longer support older versions of the game.
But the game has continued to live on.
Since it launched in October, the game, known as WoW, has sold over $8 billion.
The first expansion, World of Warcraft, is set to release in March.
And on Wednesday, the developer of the first-person shooter Warcraft, Warner Bros., announced it would soon launch an expansion called World of Tanks.
The new game will be set in the World of Warships, a massive ship-based online combat system that was released in 2011.
WoW has spawned several MMOs, including World of WarCraft, World WarCraft III, World Conqueror and World of the Seas.
In addition to the new WoW expansion, Warner’s Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are teaming up to make Warcraft movie and television series.
